SUMMER STUDY ABROAD IN TIBET
May 23 – July 4, 2006

The University of Michigan would like to announce its Summer Study Abroad program for Tibetan Studies, now in its fifth year.

This unique opportunity offers undergraduate students a comprehensive six-week, six-credit program for the study of Tibetan language, history and culture situated in Tibet. It combines three weeks in central Tibet (TAR) including Tibet's capital Lhasa and neighboring areas, and three weeks across the Eastern Tibetan regions of Kham. Course topics range from Tibetan language, Buddhism, and traditional religious history to contemporary social, cultural, and political issues. [...]

Summer 2006 dates are May 23 to July 4. Program fee is $7,500 (includes all international and in-country flights, all land travel costs, room & board and administrative fees). Students will also need to pay U-M tuition or choose the not-for credit option. Some financial aid is available. Applications submitted before December 15, 2005 will be given first consideration.
